A tragic incident has shaken the west coast of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands: four individuals were swept into the sea by a powerful wave, resulting in their deaths. Additionally, one more person remains unaccounted for. Initially, authorities confirmed three fatalities, but the grim tally increased as details emerged.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 PM at one of the popular natural pools in Los Gigantes, located in Santiago del Teide. At that moment, many visitors were enjoying the attractions both on the rocks and in the water when a massive wave crashed down upon them, pulling them into the depths.
According to the emergency services in the Canary Islands, several individuals were taken away by the turbulent waters. Among the affected were reported to be foreign tourists, with a rescue helicopter managing to recover one individual alive while another was retrieved deceased from the water.
As per official reports, the initial deaths included two men and a woman; one man was 35 years old, and the woman was 55. Tragically, a fourth victim, another woman, was revived and transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. It remains unclear if any of the victims were German nationals.
